Beat ... Improved Thunder Clap

Notice that you have improved thunderclap which with the recent trend of us trying to keep it up due to helping mitigate heavy hitting bosses I was considering taking it.

Do you consider this a good use of 3 points?

Compared to some other abilities it seems to add a lot of bang for your buck so to speak, and in the MT role it looks like quite a useful point spend now.

Seriously considering a slight talent spec tweak to get it, but wondered if you think its worth it?
Could easily gain the few points needed by reducing some talents elsewhere that are not heavily used now (e.g HS or improved sunder)

I'd move the imp sunder points to TC. Sunder is actually pretty crap for threat these days, and you will only use that ability 5 times (unless you have another warrior do it for you), then just refresh it with Devastation when everything else is on cooldown. Imp heroic strike is really nice as it can't glance, so is a nice threat boost .. and with the proper talents its only 9 rage which lets you spam it .. a lot Smiling

Imp TC's effects depends on the boss, overall its 10% less damage taken of their normal melee hits. Some bosses thats 100% damage done, others its as low as 25%. On average I'd guess Imp TC is at least 5% less damage taken over a whole fight, probably more. For 3 talent points I'd say its a good investment as I don't think you will find anything better.

Yeah that was pretty much my thought.

Imp sunder is for getting the maxed threat as fast as possible, I will have slightly lower threat after say 15 secs by dropping it, but thats probably minimal, i think I see more benefit from the improved TC.
I spam it quite a bit as well as I use it about every 15-20 secs on encounters where we rely on it due to the resists.

I have trouble getting the 25 points in prot may well increase bloodrage again as I use it quite a bit and the 3 extra rage will help nulify some of the extra rage I will need for the initial sunders.

Will respec into this I think and see if I like it.

Thx beat

Sunder Armor is my lowest priority when tanking really... often times I just totally forget to apply it at all. I get more threat from using the rage on Shield Slam + Revenge + Heroic Strike instead. You would be better off getting another warrior in the raid to apply SA, and just use Dev to refresh it now and then.

Gonna tweak to this for a trial

only consideration would be to move 1 or 2 points to improved sunder if I find that im struggling for threat for the first few seconds

Sa is for initial pull only, then the odd time if dev misses and the debuff is close to falling off.
Think the Imp GS may help a bit actually as I use it quite a lot now

These are the rotations I use:

  • Threat per rage: revenge > shield slam > devastate 5 > improved sunder > sunder > devastate 0
  • Threat per sec: shield slam > revenge > devastate 5 > improved sunder = sunder > devastate 0
  • Rage dump: heroic strike
