The Brood Mother Returns - Onyxia Raid in 3.2.2
Quote from: Zarhym (Source)

She has lurked in her lair and done battle with the many brave adventurers who travelled to that familiar location over the years. Now, in honor of the World of Warcraft 5-year anniversary, the dreaded brood mother Onyxia is being revamped to make a return to the forefront of Azeroth, as part of our big plans for the upcoming 3.2.2 content patch.

This permanent update to Onyxia will convert the dungeon into 10- and 25-player modes. We will be adding new items to Onyxia’s loot table that have the same model as some of the classic loot from this dungeon, like Tier 2 helms, with stats updated to match the current level of content. There will be a special new item too: a normal drake-sized 310% speed flying mount modeled after Onyxia herself called an Onyxia Broodling. We will also be updating the encounter mechanics to be more fitting for modern raiding, but we can guarantee players will get to experience the frightening horror of deep breaths once again.

Then for a limited time, after the 5-year anniversary event officially begins in November, anybody who logs in will receive an Onyxia Brood Whelpling pet.

We’re very excited to bring this classic encounter back to provide a fun new experience for both new and veteran players. Further details will be available in the near future, and we will be setting up the Public Test Realms soon to help test out this fight along with all the new content we have planned for the patch. Keep an eye on the forums for updates!

Is Blizzard turning into Hollywood; they "remake" every classic "film" instead of creating new ideas?

First Naxx, now Ony, and of course Achievements in general (replay content > brand new content)
UD was/is new, but seemed to be over in no time at all.

Discuss!

/agree

lets hope icecrown isnt as much of a disapointment and actually has some epic encounters.

and bring in Deathwing raid already! that would be an uber encounter...or it had better be an uber encounter *gets sledge hammer ready and Blizz address ready*

I love the onyxia fight - it was a shame it was soloable at level 80. The 40 man raids were pretty unforgiving at level60 if every didnt know what to do - it was great fun (also look up the onyxia wipe animation on you tube - its exactly how it used to be - will edit and add the link in later - i think its called Onyxia Wipe animation)

Also, bring back the druid T2 looking moose horns helm, it was the best druid helm design in game by far imho - looking forward to wearing it again Laughing out loud

p.s./ I also agree with Qah, its nice that we get a chance to do the old encounters again, but it almost seems like they have run out of ideas if they are 'reworking the fight mechanics' on old fights rather than inventing new bosses. It's just a cheap ploy for nostalgia and revisiting old content.

....even so, bring on MC/BWL rehashes so we can do them again.

Imho if they are going to do this rehashing of old content it should be a seasonal thing, like the childrens week, or fire festival - bring on the old raids/bosses once a year so it doesnt lose its novelty lol

To further my Hollywood/Blizzard comparison, I always expect little from remakes, as more often than not you've already seen them before, and a new version is never quite the same second time around.

In Vanilla WoW, I slogged my digital guts out through MC, BWL, AQ40 and Naxx, and the thought of having to do them again (redoing Naxx was enough) just makes me think, "Why?!"

Good idea.
That way people could revisit the old content in a relevant setting, without it being the bulk of the content on offer as Naxx was in WotLK.

What next? Patch 6.6, where everybody's level gets reset to 1 after an evil gnome necromancer casts a spell on all of Azeroth, starting the whole "WoW experience" over again?

1. they shudnt have to invent new bosses, there are hundreds of bad guys from wow lore (some more known than others) that can be final bosses or regular bosses for instances, i dont know why they cant implement them. Unless they are afraid that if they go through the lore too fast it will shorten wow's overall life expectancy.

2. i just posted the onyxia wipe animation on the post above urs Nim xD lol

Im hoping that they have characters like Guldan, Sargeras, Nekros, Deathwing, Dargonaz, Aegwynn, Hakkar, Manaroth, Malorne, Cenerius, Malfurion etc tucked away for future content.. at least i hope so Sticking out tongue

The Onyxia Wipe Animation is so damn funny (it gets funnier as the RL gets more irate lol), it reminded me of irate RL always asking, why did we get whelps? lol Laughing out loud ...and yeah thats the same link i was going to post Alen, you beat me to it lol.

i think the question is
will it be a new encounter with the same mob? (diferent strategy and stuff)

or same encounter with more HP, and more damage done?

example: kael'thas in TK and magister terrace Sticking out tongue , same boss diferent fight

apparently there is speculation into the matter of Quel'Serrar for palas and warriors and the mature black dragon sinew for hunters. Whether this will be a new item and a new series of quests etc i don't know
