is there anyway to find out what type of Motherboard pin set your computer has without opening it up? I think im in need of a new processor

just go to the start menu and click run and type 'DxDiag' it will show you full details of your computer. Check exactly which processor you have and from that we can tell you which socket it is.

My current processor is a quad core Intel but it only runs at 2.33 Gz so i think thats my problem
its LGA775 and the one above is socket 775 so im hoping that it will fit.

A nice cpu but would go for the E85000 tho
got voted for best gaming cpu some time ago.
Worth noting is the front side bus it runs pretty at like 1333.
If your motherboard only runs at like 1000hz there will be a bottleneck there and therefor you wont untalize the full cpu (data transfer prob wont be higher due to your motherboard slowing it)

I dont want to go too far and spend shit loads of cash on a new processor then find out i didnt need to get it
Since i also have a processor problem when running my 3D modelling render software (temperature jumps up by 33°C way past maximum operating temperature) im gonna do the following:
1. Wait for my Thermal Gel to arrive on Monday
2. Carefully remove my Heat sink from my current processor and remove all traces of gel from both, apply new gel and re-attach heat sink.
3. If there is no visible improvement, i will buy a new Heat sink and stay with current processor.
4. If there is still no visible improvement then i will probably have to buy a new processor.

make sure you get a heatsink that is compatible with both your current proccessor and the one you're thinking you might have to get later, as you dont want to buy 2 heatsinks.

You can only accept invites on the steam community site. Go to the site, log in and you'll find somewhere saying Invites where you can find people who invited you and vice versa.
