change your password to a long a with lots of numbers and copy paste that password when you login for wow

@ Sun, 19/10/2008 - 11:18

I'd say reinstall everything since it is the third time in 1 month... I wouldve done that the first time already...

Reinstall windows and dont rely on the windows firewall as it only checks the incoming communication. Vista is btw more secure than XP.

Then do the cut/past trick when logging into wow in the future.

1. What software do you use to protect your PC - Norton and McAfee - on their own are not strong enough?

2. I have a back up called PC spyware Doctor - which blocks many things including keylogers, trojans. Check that you have not downloaded something like that - by downloading for free - Spyware Doctor - analysis - it will tell you if you have a problem - My brother got hacked and we used this and found he had a trojan and keylogger bugs.

3. Did you as WOW alerted many months ago - update Adobe - as it had a potential security breach?

@ Sun, 19/10/2008 - 13:01

I've have had that problem myself - my account was hacked twice, I've lost many items permanently and was unable to play normaly for nearly a month. I eventually fully reinstaled the system, and have no problems since then. Also you might buy the blizzards new security service - key generator, or whatever it's called. If you use it, you need to enter a different password every time you log in, and only u can generate it, not sure how it fully works though or how much it works. Blizz will surely give you more info on their help line.
Hope you solve the problem soon Sad

Using a mac (or hackintosh if you have the right hardware) has the added side benefit of being less targeted by malware.

A Blizzard Authenticator. That is pretty secure. The links shows blizzards shop only sending to the US. I'm pretty sure you can get this from shop that does send to your location.

I am actually looking at getting one of these.

Does anyone here already use one?

If so could anyone tell me how it works with respect to how does the account know the number you have typed in has come from the authenticator and not just some random number you made up?

Cheers

i have a very reliable antivirus program, called Kaspersky, alencia has the same thing. Never had any viruses since i've got the program.

@ Aroes, i believe once you buy the 'key chain' device that gives you a unique password, you will most probably be given an option in the account area of the wow website to activate this on your account, thus every time you login, you'll be given an extra space to type an additional password.
