Reason I stopped using Grid a while back was that I couldnt get the raid marks/icons (skull, diamond, ...) shown in the frame. Something I think is vital for a good deal of the encounters when someone gets a debuff and needs healing asap.
I managed to find an addon for Grid now that works fine and think alle healers that use Grid should use it or something like it.

Nice addon SB, really useful for when someone gets a skull on their head and a nasty debuff for example. Downloading it right away

The other option is that you can add it to the Grid >aura>debuff menu so that you can put an indicator in the grid square to show someone has the debuff, e.g. a marker in the top left corner, this is very handy for stuff like frost blast, slag pot, stone grip, fusion punch etc etc.
so you dont necessarily need a mod for it, but Bera has suggested that addon before too - and he gave it a big thumbs up

Yup, I can highly recommend GridStatusRaidDebuff for all raiders (not just healers).
How it works: You install it, and assign the center icon to it with a high priority. That is it.
It has all the important Ulduar (and older instance) boss debuffs predefined, so, for example, when someone get roots at freya or grip at the gay boss, you will see its specific icon on the unit frame. The only additional configuration I had to do was to disable the disease/magic debuffs that the corruptor tentacles do at Yogg, because they obscured the poison/curse ones that I can dispel.
I believe that it is probably a better solution than the raid icon display for healers because there are debuffs that require healing (like roots) that do not get raid icons. In any case, you can have both, and choose which one is displayed by changing their priorities (I think).
