it's not his personal hygien afaik, but some kind of "mushroom". After reading the article I certainly didn't expect to find *that*.

I read an article on the matter and it seems to be that he lacks a working immune system; these "horns" or roots grows due to a protein that warts in particular produces - so if you don't attend your wart they might grow something like this (but very very small - this is becuase his immune system hasn't been able to repell his deficiency during a very long time)
so now we have a treant irl! all hail the wood elves of warhammer fantasy!
