You get black graphics when it has an issue loading that texture.
Would suggest you run the wow check utility and delete the temporary files (not the interface setting ones)
should fix it. You may have a corrupted set of textures in your copied files

If you have the player and target portraits (i.e. health bar/manabar and picture of yourself and the target) at the bottom of the screen forces you to always look at the bottom of the screen if you have the bars near by; it's really horrible on the eyes I find

that's why i have them there, so i will allways be looking at the bottom of the screen for the raid modd or action bars. That makes it alot easyer to spot when i'm getting low health/mana. Since i'll se it without focusing on it. whilse if you have the player and target portraits at the top of the screen you don't spot it as easy since most your time you spend looking at the middle or bottom of your sceen. ( the fight or the chatt, action bars, unit frames and cast bar )
+ it makes the Ui look alot nicer Sticking out tongue

I also find it very important to have a clear screen, so instead of having little windows with fluo colors all over the screen, you can group them all down and have 75% of your screen free (to look at the fluo set armors Jawdropping! )

As long as you know where to find things on your screen you won't be losing that much time with it anyway. I've got most of my things spread around my screen.

Actionbars - Bottom
Targetting etcetera - Top
Raid + MT list - Left
Omen + Recount - Right

This leaves the centre free for watching the surroundings. Next to that I've got my text windows at the bottom as well.

looking good stell Smiling

some suggestions of stuff that i currently use.

Quartz is realy nice as cast bar, both with look and Function

Natur EnemyCastBar works good as a cooldown moniter, as bars rather then numbers ontop of the spell button. Easyer to keep track on mana pots, trinkets ect. ( ofc you still want the omniCC to show the 10sec or less cds spells )

MikScrollingBattleText is like sct but with better grafik and better dislaying the combat info.

Bagnon or onebag to put the space from all your bags into one big frame, this way it's easyer to find what you need in your bags faster. + you can move the frame around as mutch as you want when ever you want.

Witch raid unit frame are you using? Sticking out tongue
And that FiveSecBar is that to moniter the time from that you stop casting till you start to gain your full mana reg?

Xperl has a build in cast bar which has a nice feature, it shows when i should stopcast to prevent a spell to land at the latest due to lag. On a 2.5 spell the spell will land if you don't cancel it 0.2 seconds before it finishes due to lag between you and blizz. Since this depedns on connection it cna be alot or little, this cast bar takes it into account. that's why I didn't take a second one. It's a bit experimental, if it isn't good I'm gonna take quartz most likely, I used the ArcHUD one up to now but i dropped that mod.

Classtimer shows my CD in a small seperate window, it "should" work ^^ But I'll take a look at that nature thing I kinda was looking a long time for a CD monitor and dumped laods, this was the only somewhat decent one.

I'll look it up, never seen it

Hehe, this is exactly what I do NOT want, because knowing myself if everything is in 1 bag I'll end up selling my shadow resist gear Smiling Right now all bags are sorted nicely (resist gear+ pets/potions/SPGear/Quests / empty) , so I know which bags not to touch

Raid Frame = XPerl, it was recommended to me Smiling i'll give it a go and see how it works. I tried grid 1 raid but wasn't very pleased with the buff/debuff showing of it.

FiveSecBar = pure win. This bar shows how long I'm still inside 5SR, awesome mod to help me leave 5SR and get that mighty spirit regen to kick in.

Right then, I think it is time to introduce you to my UI.

Solo UI (Click the image for a large preview)
In this image you can also see my totemmodYata, basically it displays the 4 totems I use most. I click on them to cast them. When I need a different totem I hover over the element and then a pull out menu appears. Then I click on the totem I want. Very simple and easy.
Also, notice my map in the topcentre of my screen. Something happens to that when raiding.

Solo UI (Click the image for a large preview)
Again my solo UI, now it shows one of the two hidden bars. It only becomes visisble when I mousover them. One is on the right (the one u see now) with my pots 'n stuff, and the other one contains my bags and blizzard buttons and is on the left.
You can also see the Damagemeter I use (recount), it becomes visible after a fight and will replace my bosmods bar's as you an see in the next picture.

Raid UI (Click the image for a large preview)
This is how I raid!
Everything very tidy and neatly worked away. To the right of my own unitfram originally was an AttackPower Gauge, but that mod doesn't work anymore. You can see my totemtimers at the top and you can also see that my map has been replaced by Omen. This phase of RoS didn't have Omen so you cannot see the bars) I can toggle the map if I want to see who pings or for positioning, but I figured that a map is useless in raids besides pointing out positions pre bossfight. Just above my actionbars a castbar will appear when I cast something. Mostly healing spells or mounts. Eye-wink
I have grid on the bottom and I love it. For a healer a long horizontal bar is probably not the best setup, but for me it does. Top left contains the Bostimers and when they reach <10 seconds they become visible on the centre of my screen on top of my character so I can't miss them. Eye-wink

As I am annoyed if I have to to something twice I currently raid with little more then Vanilla Wow ui. This has given me time to think about what I want when WotLK hits.

I'm looking for lightweight mods as the challenge for me is to try and minimize the amount of memory that is being occupied by addons.

It does not matter at all how much it does, it can take upto 150mb's and beyond without affecting wow peformance. But still.. it's a challenge.

Does anyone have an experience with building lightweight ui's? Or a website I could read?

i use agunitframes, grid, dbm, ora2, Omen (atlasloot and recount are extra but not esential) - it gives about 7-10mb i think for addons - or for even more lightweight just use xperl (gives all unit and raid frames), ora2, dbm and Omen Laughing out loud

[N.B/ you can take out the parts of xperl that you dont want/need just like the CT mod, e.g. can remove Focus, Pet folder if you dont have them].

Nice, minimal UI, Thought!

What was the anime popup when Missile Barrage proc'd? Was it an addon, eg. Power Auras with a custom texture/sound?

I miss the days of Discord addons that allowed you to make the most complex and amazing UIs (at the expense of your memory!)

Btw is the health bars for all the raid on the top left of your screen an addon called 'Bunch of Bars'? I really like the layout, although i dont have the confidence with an action bar placement mod to make my own one (not after hearing tales of missing pet/possession bars - eek) Sad

You can get the same raid frame layout using Bartender4.

Don't worry, Bartender4 is probably the easiest and most intuitive Action Bar mod to use. Even setting up keybinds for it is a 20 second job.

my raid frames are oUF_Perfect
my action bars are rActionBarStyler ( pretty much the default blizz bars with some tweaks) and rActionButtonStyler
and my frame is oUF_P3lim edited by me

for threat i use sThreatMeter2 (list on top of my frame) and bThreat (text in middle of screen)

for chat i use
zChat along with other addons to complement it.

for the buff and debuffs i use Bison

some other things but heres the full list

I was going to ask you how much memory it used, Thought.
12mb is crazily low!

Mine's at about 22mb because I was lazy and went with Outfitter, bt4, Prat, etc.

oUF stuff is just great for low memory usage.

Actually you can replace those addons for some more memory friendly:
Outfitter - ClosetGnome
BT4 - Dominos
Prat - Chatter

and so on Sticking out tongue

Those are better in terms of memory then the ones you have and do the same.

Or if you really want to go extreme you can use rActionBarStyler for Bars or some chat mods like zchat, with some plugins or do some tweaks and tricks yourself with a little lua practice, like Thought, but ahh well, he's CRAZY Evil

My latest UI takes up about 1.5mb excluding Blizzard's UI features.

As for Outfitter/ClosetGnome/ItemRack; they're redundant next patch as Blizz added their own gear changing aspect to their UI. Outfitter itself is discontinued already.

Another good low memory Action Bar addon is BarKeep, which I use at the moment; 14.00 Kb in size compared to Dominos' 101kb!

Correct, however I don't know how much memory the 'blizzard' mod will take up Sticking out tongue Nothing you could really do about that though.

I will make some screenshots of my UI, I've now completely adjusted it to WoTLK and have yet to upload pictures. Smiling

In fitting with current posts in this thread regarding gear swapping mods, here's some news from Blizz:

3.1 Equipment Manager removed

Certain issues were encountered with the upcoming Equipment Manager that could not be resolved in time for release with the next content update, patch 3.1. In order to ensure that this feature meets our standard of quality, we will be taking some extra time with the Equipment Manager and it will instead be released some time after patch 3.1. We understand that this feature is a widely anticipated addition and apologize for this minor delay.

This is my out of combat UI;
Notable stuff:
- Tooltips are always on the right, centered
- My own unitframe is left, topleft is my pet and top right is my focus target.
- Targetframe is on the right, target of target is top right and focustarget is top left.
- My whispers get placed in a separate msn style (ish) window.
- Less used chatstuff is faded behind the bottomleft Boxframe.

Memory usage:
Notable stuff:
- If I hover my mouse over the top of my screen a bar will appear with some random stuff in it that I do not always need but is pretty useful.

Raid/Party:
Notable stuff:
- My raid and partyframes are in the topleft.
- Next to my targetframe are a few bars showing me how long my diseases still have on the current target.
- Omen is on the bottomright.
- Recount in the same style will appear out of combat on the bottomleft.
- Combatlog display on the bottomleft box.

Any chance you could thumbnail the images, though, because frankly they are crazy huge?

Saw a screenshot of a Warlock that had a nice setup on his Pitbull Unit Frames and I kinda mimicked it to some extent. Not entirely but I liked the way he portrayed his health and mana bars. Changed the colouring a bit and the positioning of the text.
