High Warlord Naj'entus

Requirements

  • 1 Tanks
    8 Healers
16 DPS - Ranged DPS is preferred over melee DPS
  • After our first kill it is obligated to have *at least* 10000 HP raid buffed!
  • Everyone is obligated to have this macro the ensure a fast shield burts once everyone is healed up. The bonus of this macro is that you don't lose your current target (good for healers, but they should not be pulling out the Naj'entus Spine as they are busy enough as it is).

    #show Naj'entus Spine
    /use Naj'entus Spine

Also remember that the range of the "Naj'entus Spine" is about 25-30y.

High Warlord Naj'entus

HP - 3,800,000
Melee Strenght - 4000 on plate
Enrage - 8 minutes

Needle Spine
Fires a Needle Spine at 3 targets, most often in a cone, dealing 2890 to 3910 physical damage to them and an additional 2280 to 2520 frost damage to everyone in 6 yards of them. He uses that ability all the time, except while under the Tidal Shield and about 10 seconds after Tidal Shield bursts.

Impaling Spine
Fires a massive spine, impaling the target, dealing 4513-4987 physical damage and stunning the target. While the target has the Impaling Spine on him, he will be completely immobilised and bleed for 2750 damage each second. This ability is not used on the Main Tank and cannot be removed with immunity abilities.

Tidal Shield
He uses this ability every 60 seconds. While the shield is up, he is immune to all spells and attacks. While the Tidal Shield is up, Naj'entus will regenerate 1% of his health every 2 seconds, though this healing is affected by Wound Poison or Mortal Strike. You need to bring down the shield fast. The only way to do this is by bursting it by throwing an Impaling Spine to him. Upon bursting, the bubble deals 8500 frost damage to everyone. It is resistable and affected by Divine Shield, Iceblock and Cloak of Shadows.

How to deal with each ability
Melee Attacks
Just heal through really, he doesn't hit that hard, however this is a heavy healing fight due to all the other abilities.

Needle Spine
We want to prevent people getting hit by the extra AoE ability of this spell so people should spread out a minimum of 6y. This should not be much of a problem as there is plenty of room and 6y is a fairly small distance. It is resistable so Frost Aura's and Totems will help a great deal.

Impaling Spine
This damage can only be healed through and can not be prevented. Healers should make sure the person getting hit by this spell gets healed through the initial damage and specially the additional bleed damage.
When this ability is used everyone around the person getting hit should pick up the Impaling Spine as this will be needed to break the Tidal Shield. When players are close enough they will be able to right-click the Impaling Spine to instantly loot it, you can hold up to 5 Impaling Spines.

Tidal Shield
There is nothing we can do to break the shield or stop him from healing, however Hunters, Rogues and DPS Warriors should keep their healing reducing abilities up at all times to minimize the healing effect.
The shield itself can only be broken by a person throwing the Impaling Spine at High Warlord Naj'entus, this is why it is really important for people to carry as much of them around as possible so we can break the shield whenever we want to. It is however important to heal up the entire raid before using the Impaling Spine, as after breaking it every raidmember will get hit for 8500 frost damage (DBM and other bossmods will show a nice window to see who is below 8500 health).
As you can see this is a very healing intensive ability and will require all healers to give it all they got, however the rest of us can help healers out by using Healthstones and Potions to heal ourselves up to a safe percentage. He uses Tidal Shield every 60s, so a Healthstone / Potion rotation should work here (2 minute CD on both), and don't forget about Bandages. Everything helps!

Positioning

First of all, all raid members must be spread apart 6y from eachother, this is to ensure noone will get hit by the AoE damage from Needle Spine. Only melee DPS can make an exception, they need to spread in groups of 2 or 3 around the boss, it is impossible to make an even spread without getting hit from the AoE. Melee DPS can group up because of that to reduce the amount of melee getting hit by the AoE at once (it will be limited to just 1 or 2).

The tank will be tanking High Warlord Naj'entus in the middle of the room that he is in, this allows for a lot of spreading for the rest of the raid. What we will do is have 1 group North, 1 group East, 1 group South and 1 group West, in that respective position these groups will spread out to ensure the 6y range of each other. The group setup should be so that each healer has their own group to heal, groups can consist of melee and ranged DPS, as long as the healer can reach all of the party-members.

Other then these positions there is not much moving around, so it is a pretty stationary fight. However when someone in your area gets hit by the Impaling Spine you should move over there, right click it and move back to your position.

Key points

I can't stress this enough so here it goes again! Please try and stick to these key points as it is critical to succeed.

  • Get 10000 HP raid buffed, it doesn't matter how, even if you have to nerf some of your DPS or healing. Just do it!
  • Rogues, Hunters and DPS Warriors, keep your healing reducing abilities up during the Tidal Shield at all cost. On our first kill I noticed when these classes were dead (2 Rogues, 2 Hunters), he recharged a lot and this will eventually kill the raid due to mana and health issues.
  • Spread! And I mean spread! If anyone is in your distance window check what you're doing wrong, because the person next to you will do so as well.
  • Help your buddy out! If you see someone in your area with an Impaling Needle get to him/her and take it out, because it hurts!
  • DBM and other bossmods will show you a window which shows the people that are under 8500 HP, once that window is clear use your macro at once if you have the Naj'entus Spine. Please do this on your own initiative as well, as long as you don't kill anyone you will be doing just fine, don't rely on the Raid Leader or anyone else to shout it out to you. Do it fast, because this guy recharges a great deal during the Tidal Shield.
  • Healthstones, Potions and Bandages are your friend! This is probably the most important point to remember, do *anything* to help heal yourself up. Specially after the Tidal Shield bursts this is important, save your Healthstones and Potions for this, use Bandages between Tidal Shields.
